CORSAIR II

This model boat is hand-crafted from hard wood with planks on frame construction and then the hull is painted as the color of the real boat. This model is fully assembled and ready for display.

HISTORY

Corsair II J.P.Morgan's Yacht . . . J. Pierpont Morgan was the head of the International Mercantile Marine Co., that had in its large Atlantic shipping fleet, the White Star Line and, of course, Titanic. J.P. Morgan was an internationally famous financier and his yacht, Corsair (II) was built in 1890 in Philadelphia. Expensive yachts were the corporate jets and status symbols of the late 19th century. Corsair (II) was outstanding; she was the second of four to be christened Corsair. The overall length of this beautiful yacht was 218 feet. She was 204 feet in length at the waterline, the remaining 14 feet of her length was molded into her graceful clipper bow and over-hanging counter stern. She had a beam of 27.2 ft and a draft of 13 ft; her speed was 13 knots.
