Christian Radich is
named for the captain who donated funds for the building of a new
training ship for Oslo. More than 50 years elapsed from the funds
were donated until the Christian Radich was supplied by the yard of
Framnęs Mekaniske Verksted in Sandefjord in 1936.
Since then the Christian Radich has been under sail as a training
ship, and in recent years has also offered those who sail on her the
chance to take part in cruises.
The
vessel has also featured in several major cinema and TV productions,
of which Windjammer from 1957 and The Onedin Line from the 1980s are
the best known.
